Opterius accounts are owned by a panel user. When you need to transfer an account to a different client or move it from one reseller to another, you change the account's owner.
What Changes
Changing the owner updates who can log in and manage the account in Hosting Mode. It does not change:
- Files on disk
- Databases
- DNS records
- Email accounts
- Any server-side configuration
The Linux system user for the account remains the same. Only the panel-level ownership record changes.
Steps
- In Server Mode, go to Accounts
- Click the account you want to reassign
- Click Edit
- Change the Owner dropdown to the new user
- Click Save
The new owner can now log in and see this account in their Hosting Mode. The previous owner loses access.
[!NOTE] The new owner must already have a panel user account. If they don't, create one first via Users → New User (or tell them to register if registration is open).
Moving to a Different Reseller
If you're moving an account from one reseller to another (or from a reseller to admin), update the Owner to the target reseller. The account now counts against the new reseller's account limits and resource quotas.
Updating Login Credentials
Changing the owner does not change the account's password. If the new owner needs different credentials, go to the account's page and use Change Password to update.
