Our Story

Built by someone who got tired of paying for less

Opterius was not born in a boardroom. It was built out of genuine frustration — by a developer who had spent nearly two decades managing servers and clients, and knew exactly what was missing.

2007 — The Beginning

Started with a small hosting company. And a cPanel licence.

In 2007, Gabriel Chimilevschi started building a small web hosting business — the kind that starts with a single server, a handful of clients, and a lot of ambition. Like most hosting companies at the time, the stack was cPanel, WHM, and WHMCS. The industry standard. The only real option.

Over the following years, that hands-on experience grew into something deeper. Gabriel installed operating systems from scratch, configured PHP and MySQL, set up firewalls, managed DNS zones, issued SSL certificates, and diagnosed everything that can go wrong on a Linux server at 2 AM. Across more than 100 servers, built from the ground up for clients across different industries.

"After years of doing this, I knew exactly what a hosting panel should do. And I also knew exactly what cPanel, WHM, and WHMCS were failing to do — despite the price tag that kept going up every year."

— Gabriel Chimilevschi, founder of Opterius
The Problem

The frustration that started everything

cPanel is old. Its interface was designed for a different era of the web and has barely evolved since. Features that modern developers and hosting companies take for granted — clean UI, sensible workflows, developer tools — are either missing entirely or buried under layers of legacy design.

But the pricing was what made it untenable. Paying a significant monthly fee just to have access to email management, database tools, and account creation — things that can be done via command line in minutes — felt increasingly difficult to justify. And WHMCS, the de-facto billing platform for hosting companies, adds another layer of cost for a product that looks and feels like it was built in 2010.

For a developer who had been doing this work for over a decade, it was clear: there had to be a better way.

July 2025 — The Build Begins

A panel built for real hosting work

In July 2025, Gabriel started building a custom control panel for his own domains. Not to replace cPanel for the world — just to replace it for himself. The first version handled the essentials: email management, account creation, SSL certificates, database management, phpMyAdmin access, and SSH.

But the more it grew, the more it became clear this was something bigger. Every feature added was informed by years of real-world hosting experience — not by product managers or investor decks. The result was a panel that actually made sense to use.

Feature by feature, the panel evolved. Nginx configuration. PHP-FPM per-account pools. PowerDNS integration. Git deployment. Node.js management. Composer. Backups. Two-factor authentication. A file manager. A terminal. Everything a professional hosting company actually needs, built into a single clean interface.

January 2026 — Going Public

From personal tool to public product

In early 2026, Gabriel made the decision to turn Opterius into a public product — a genuine alternative to cPanel, WHM, and WHMCS for hosting companies who want modern tools without the legacy price tag. His own hosting accounts were migrated to Opterius Panel, followed by dozens of client accounts.

The transition worked. Not because it was a polished commercial product with a large team behind it, but because it was built by someone who had lived the problem for 18 years and knew exactly how to solve it.

Today, Opterius is a modern hosting control panel trusted to run real servers for real clients — with a generous free plan that includes every feature for up to 5 hosting accounts. And it is just getting started.

2026 and Beyond

What's coming next

The roadmap for 2026 includes two major additions to the Opterius ecosystem:

Opterius Commerce

A modern WHMCS alternative — client management, invoicing, and billing automation built for hosting companies. Clean, fast, and without the legacy baggage.

Opterius Cloud

Managed hosting powered by Opterius Panel — for those who want the software experience without managing their own infrastructure.
